Steve Davies has an established record in catering to the training needs of the Private and Public Sector.  Steve holds the Certificate in Post Compulsory Education, BA (Hons) Degree from Canterbury Christchurch University in Post Compulsory Education AND Training and is a qualified A1 assessor with extensive practical experience in designing and delivering training in all areas of investigation and investigative interviewing.   He is a consultant practitioner within training and organisational development, interview advisor, mentor and assessor.

Steve served as a West Midlands Police Officer for thirty years before retiring with exemplary conduct.  He is an experienced investigator and has had responsibility for volume and major crime investigations having held a wide range of operational, specialist, training and organisational appointments.

Steve’s passion lies with Investigation and Investigative Interviewing within the public and private sectors. During his career he has been an advisor for major criminal enquiries to Senior Investigating Officers on Interviewing Strategy. Steve has theoretical and practical experience in Advance (PIP 2) Suspect/Witness Training, PEACE Interview Training, Interview Advisors Courses, Enhanced Cognitive Interviewing and the ABE model of interviewing people with vulnerabilities or subject to intimidation.

Since leaving the police Steve has  worked with individuals, groups and institutions in all contexts within the public and private sectors to develop knowledge, skills, understanding, attitudes, behaviour, systems, procedures and processes to enable ethical and effective investigation and investigative interviewing, designing and delivering bespoke training courses and workplace coaching and mentoring and providing operational consultancy.

Steve has successfully taken his training skills, theory and practical experience to design and deliver bespoke programmes of learning to a wide range of organisations. In addition to the interviewing skills he has experience in a wide range of Investigation Courses and programmes covering all levels and all disciplines into the private sector to establish ethical investigation processes for companies in relation to allegations of misconduct in the workplace and accident investigation.

In addition Steve has made an acknowledged contribution to Investigative Interviewing: the Conversation Management Approach (2007, 2013, Oxford University Press).
