Jeremy Paine retired served for thirty years career in Sussex Police, the last three years as Assistant Chief Constable responsible for Specialist Crime and Operations across a broad range of disciplines. He is experienced in leadership at Director level in an organisation of over 5500 staff with a budget of £250m. He excels in managing risk and delivering change to improve service and performance. He has significant experience in leadership, organisational change, investigations, critical incident management and staff management.
Jeremy had broad experience of working with the media both day to day and during critical incidents. In addition he worked for 6 years as the police co presenter on the BBC Appeals programme Crimewatch. This included script writing and presentation on live television in front of 6m viewers.
In his early career Jeremy led and oversaw numerous critical incidents, serious crimes, public order and high profile events. These included Homicides, Child Abductions (Billie Jo Jenkins, Sarah Payne), Counter Terrorism and Security Operations and other major public events. He specialised in cases of Child Abduction and was the reviewer of choice for a number of high profile cases nationally. He introduced the Child Rescue scheme into the UK to assist in the rescue of kidnapped children. Jeremy led two major planning operations to deliver security at Party Political Conferences in Brighton.
As a senior manager Jeremy worked on many local, regional and national committees delivering cooperation and improvement in Drugs enforcement, Counter Terrorism, Criminal Justice, Mental Health Services, Air Support, National Intelligence Systems and Crime. He has chaired major change programmes to deliver modernised crime and Intelligence Systems.
Jeremy has a strong focus on performance and delivery. As a Police Divisional Commander in Brighton and Hove he worked with partners to influence a common vision to improve the image and culture of the city to have a wider public appeal. This included identifying some of the major causes of crime and disorder, namely drugs and alcohol abuse, and leading all responsible authorities towards practical and long term solutions to the problems faced by the city.
